Welcome to the Hope Cemetery

This remarkable haven is located above the town of Hope, overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. You can visit the cemetery using the directions below:

From Sandpoint and points west: Take Idaho Highway 200 east from Sandpoint to Hope. At the first exit to Hope (after milepost 45), take Business 200 past Hope City Hall, the Ice House Pizzeria, and the old Hope Hotel. Just after the hotel, W. Main Street bears left and is steep. Follow it up the hill to the second left (past the cluster of houses) to Grandview Avenue, which also bears left and is steep. There is a small directional sign to the cemetery at Grandview. The cemetery is near the end of Grandview Ave. You can't miss it.

If you miss the first turnoff from the west, take the bridge and turn left at the second turnoff (past milepost 46) and follow the directions for coming from Clark Fork and Montana, below.

From Clark Fork and Montana: Take Idaho 200 west to the first exit to Hope and East Hope (after milepost 47). Turn right across the railroad tracks, and left on Wellington Place. As you approach the Post Office and the old school on the right, slow down. You'll see three distinct roads just at the Post Office parking lot: the one you're on (on the left), a slightly smaller one rising up the hill (in the middle), and a steep driveway (on the right). Take the middle road up the hill, it has a small sign for the Hope Cemetery. When the road levels at the top, just before you get to the cluster of houses, execute a 180-degree right turn from Main Street onto Grandview Avenue. Grandview is also steep. There is a small directional sign to the cemetery at the corner of Main St. and Grandview. The cemetery is near the end of Grandview Ave. You can't miss it.

If you miss the first turnoff from the east, continue on to the bridge and turn right at the second turnoff for Hope and East Hope (after milepost 46) and follow the directions for coming from Sandpoint and points west, above.

Friends of Hope Cemetery

The Friends of Hope Cemetery, a recognized, registered non-profit (501)(c)(3) entity, is a local citizen's volunteer organization representing Hope, East Hope, the Hope Peninsula and surrounding area. New members are always welcome. 

The Friends hold semi-annual cleanups in the Spring and Fall (see the "Events" page).  Regular maintenance is provided by the City of Hope, although the City does not promise perpetual maintenance.
